Meet Our Members | February 2021
Name and Occupation: Sue Greene, Farmer/Owner
Business Name: Slopeside Farm // Facebook • Instagram
My husband, Mike, and I own our 11 acre farm with <1 acre under cultivation. This is our second year growing for market. We are certified organic, selling seedlings, vegetables, and herbs to direct markets. We offer our produce and flowers at the Lancaster Farmers Market on Saturdays from May to October. We also sell our produce at the Root Seller Marketplace in Lancaster, a great locavore store that supports our local growers and crafters in the area.

How long have you been a member of NOFA-NH? This is our 1st year.
Why did you become a member of NOFA-NH? I believe in supporting our local, organic movement in NH. By becoming a member, I stay informed and my membership fees go towards education and advocacy for our community.
How has NOFA-NH impacted your business? The spring bulk order has made it so easy to price and pick up supplies in one trip.
What’s your number one priority for NOFA-NH this year? Members of our communities are still struggling due to the pandemic. Therefore, it’s so important to continue the education to the public about how to access local food systems, work with partnering organizations to market local food resources, markets, and programs, and map our food pantries for gleaning programs and community access.
How could NOFA-NH better help your business grow? Pricing for market is extremely difficult for a small farm with only one year of business records, especially with that year being a strange one due to the pandemic. A weekly price publication of market averages of crops sold would be a great resource for farmers just starting out, or experienced farmers who have not changed their prices for year (to better understand trends).
What advice do you have for anyone thinking about becoming a NOFA-NH member? Support the organization that advocates for NH organic agriculture by becoming a member.
Does your business have any upcoming activities or events you would like to share with the NOFA-NH community? We’ll be back at the Lancaster Farmers Market starting 2021 Memorial Day weekend!
